The fantastic free anti-virus program AVG has just come out with a major update. This latest update brings AVG up to version 8 and brings with it an updated interface plus a few new features. This freeware now helps protect your PC from SpyWare even more with it’s new SafeSearch feature, which provides extra information in your Google searches letting you know which sites are safe and warning you about the ones that are potentially dangerous with unobtrusive icons next to your search results (ofcourse you can turn this feature off if you’d like).
You also get the same great features you are used to from AVG like great virus protection, automatic updates, a scan scheduler & more. So anyone who is already using AVG, make sure you update to version 8 and for anyone in need of a new anti-virus program, now is a good time to switch to AVG.

I use AVG too, but I didn’t notice they have an important upgrade until now. I usually ignore anything that pops up on my screen. Thanks for the heads up!

I always use AVG and it is very much effective too. But It is heavy and takes time to load pages in web browser and also it takes time to update itself as it update on daily basis.

The only thing with avg i dont like is that sometimes it updates automatically when I’m in the midst of doing something on my comp and the annoying little window pops up.

It is wonderful except Spyware stuff.I always be a fan of Kaspersky but this is a very good piece of software and it is free

I use AVG in my Ubuntu since I do a dual boot. Not a big fan though

Thanks for sharing the link and info. I have used a previous version of AVG but that didn’t come with free anti-spyware. I am glad to see that.

In past I have used AVG Anti-virus and Anti-Spyware, I had to replace it with Kaspersky and then with Norton technologies. Should I try this new free version(I am not big fan of freebies)?
